What Cover do I have?

A goods in transit Takaful covers property against loss or damage while it is in transit from one place to another as a result of:

Fire to the carrying vehicle
Accident to the carrying vehicle
Hijack of the vehicle
Riots and strikes

The policy does not cover loss or damage:-

Loss or damage in any other circumstances other than those specified above
Loss attributed to willful misconduct of the participant
Ordinary leakage/loss in weight, wear & tear
Loss arising out of insufficient packing
Loss caused by inherent vice or nature of goods
Loss of market due to delay

How long is it for?

Your policy cover will normally run for the period specified in the policy document.

How much must I pay if I have a claim?

You will pay 10% of each claim subject to a minimum specified in the policy document

How do I make a claim?

You should report to us immediately. We will ask you for the following:

Cover Note for that particular transit
Supplier’s invoices
Original delivery note
Packing list
Surrender salvage to us for appropriate disposal.
Watchman statement or witness statement where bearer of the money is accompanied

Can I cancel the policy ?

You should report to us immediately. We will ask you for the following documents:

You may cancel the policy at any time by telling us in writing. We may cancel the policy by giving you seven days’ written notice to your last known address. We will charge you on a pro rata basis for the time we have been on cover plus an administration fee of Ksh.1,000 and pay any refund due to you. There will be no refund if we have paid a claim or one is outstanding at the time you cancel your policy.
